Abrasive Waterjet Cutting Services

Abrasive waterjet cutting uses a high-pressure stream of water mixed with an abrasive garnet to cut through thick, hard, or dense materials that a plain waterjet cannot handle. Interwest Manufacturing provides abrasive waterjet cutting services for industrial, architectural, and specialty applications across Utah.

What Is Abrasive Waterjet Cutting?

In abrasive waterjet cutting, garnet particles are introduced into the high-pressure water stream, dramatically increasing cutting power. This allows the system to cut materials up to several inches thick - including hardened steel, thick aluminum, granite, reinforced composites, and ceramic.

Materials for Abrasive Waterjet

  • Thick steel plate (up to several inches)
  • Titanium and exotic alloys
  • Granite and marble
  • Thick glass and bulletproof glass
  • Carbon fiber and composites
  • Ceramic and porcelain tile

Advantages of Abrasive Waterjet

Abrasive waterjet cutting produces no heat-affected zone, preserves material properties, and achieves tight tolerances. It is often the preferred method for materials that cannot be laser or plasma cut without degradation.
